Having been traditional trained in the fine arts; I bring an understanding of classic composition to my photographs. Photography offers me a way to share my creative vision of surroundings, objects, nature and places. In an instant, through the lens of my camera and a fragment of exposure, I am able to make real and visible what some may only sense or even dismiss.
When I see something that captures my attention, I take time to study it. I look for all the possibilities. The angles, the light, the texture – anything to influence the emotion I want my photograph to stir. I like the seductive and dramatic effects of fog and mist. I am always fascinated by the concept that I can look through the lens of my camera, capture the moment and share a different and perhaps unexpected perspective.
I enjoy searching for new images, be it on my block in Baltimore City or in exotic foreign place. During the past several years, I have had the opportunity to photograph in Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Greece, and Cuba. In between trips I enjoy the beauty of the mid-Atlantic seaboard for my creative inspiration.
I have refined my work to create a distinctive look that has been recognized and appreciated by the artistic community and private collectors alike. I am the recipient of numerous art and photographic awards. My photographs are in the collections of The Greater Baltimore Committee, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Carey Limousine, and Loyola University. Ballard Design, Ethan Allen, and Crate & Barrel have also feathered my work.
My studio and darkroom are located in the historic waterfront neighborhood of Canton in Baltimore City. I am a native of Ambridge, Pennsylvania. I hold degrees in Art and Elementary Education from Slippery Rock State University. I have also studied at the Pittsburgh Institute of Art, Maryland Institute College of Art, International Center for Photography in New York City and the Maine Media Workshops in Camden, Maine.
