I’m an artist and graphic designer with a degree in design from the University of Illinois. I had a small graphic design firm in Chicago; in 2008 I left the big city for the rural Hudson Valley. Now I paint watercolors and create paper mache pieces.
As a graphic designer I’ve worked with clients like The American Library Association, Levi’s, Campbells, and the Chicago Board of Trade, producing art for both product and print. I have a line of greeting cards which is available in over 300 U.S. shops as well as in England, New Zealand, and Australia.
My watercolors began as a journal of my surroundings in the Hudson River Valley. These paintings depict the plants and animals I see while hiking and exploring or while simply looking out my window.
My paper mache work is actually a combination of paper mache, decoupage and faux bois. My process is the one most of us learned as children: layered strips of newspaper dipped in white glue. I use upcycled paper — newspaper, phone books, used cardboard boxes. Each piece is one of a kind.
My paper mache work has been featured in a number of magazines and newspapers and one of my tables appears in two books: “Tables” and “Table: Inspiring Interpretations of Function and Style” by Lark Books.
