Ross Marks grew up in Thornhill, Ontario. Ross developed an early passion for art, with a strong interest in drawing. By 1978, he had moved to Toronto to study at The Central Technical School of Art.
From 1980 to 1982, Ross presented several collections of landscapes and portraits which introduced him as an artist who combined an enormous thirst for colour with a delicate style of painting. In 1986, Ross moved to London, England, where his increasing fascination with light led him on an intense study of Impressionism. The gardens and countryside of England offered the perfect setting in which to study the effects of light, and there he developed the style of painting that dominated his work for the following ten years. His travels, in search of different kinds of light, have taken him through Europe and the Caribbean and were the inspiration for a large body of work showcased in eight exhibitions.
His work, found internationally in both corporate and private collections, continues to captivate and delight the senses.
